This lower floor was once home to some of the house’s staff (cooks, ironers, gardeners, governesses, etc.). Since its refurbishment, we can visit the part devoted to the last artist we’ll discuss, Abraham Cárdenes and his students.
He is the only artist to have a dedicated permanent exhibition room despite not being from Arucas. This is thanks to his relationship with the town and the express desire of his family to leave part of his collection to the town. The unique thing about this collection is that it mostly consists of works by his students at the Municipal Academies of Fine Arts in Las Palmas. But more about that later.
Abraham Cárdenes was one of the most modern and representative Canarian artists in the field of education. He was born in 1907, in Tejeda, in the centre of the island. His artistic career kicked off when he began drawing and sculpture under the wing of Eduardo Gregorio at the Luján Pérez school.
